I hope everyone is doing well. It has been quite the roller coaster the past few months to say the least… I have missed my work but I have kept busy otherwise.

It was announced that the government has given the Green Light for a gradual re-opening for RMT’s. The Ministry of Health and the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario have stated that the gradual re-opening is meant to prioritize care for those that are deemed urgent. To ensure that I am following the government protocols set in place, the booking system will be via email, text and phone call only at this time, however, the reminder emails / texts will remain in place. Appointments are more spread apart which makes for less availability unfortunately.

To keep you in the loop, As a clinic owner, what I am / or have set up for safety of my clients and to follow government guidelines, some of the protocols during the current pandemic in place are as follows:

What I (or any clinic) need to have in place Before opening:

I have or am currently making sure that hand sanitizer is available in the clinic

I have obtained disinfectant approved by health Canada for cleaning and disinfecting the clinic space before, after and between each client.

I have purchased surgical/ procedure masks to wear during treatment and whenever a client is in the clinic. (Changed for each client as per government guidelines). Cilents must bring their own mask to the appointments, or they can purchase a disposable one for a fee.

I have purchased additional PPE if necessary and new vinyl coverings for the pillows

I have purchase flannel sheets instead of blankets

I have removed furniture with fabric from clinic space and made sure laundry bins can be sealed with a lid and the garbage bin will have lid and pedal to open.

I have in place new templates for record keeping of general infection prevention.

I am currently finishing mandatory training from Public Health Ontario’s IPAC .

I have altered my schedule to have 30 minutes between clients to allow for new cleaning and disinfection protocol.

I have switched over to paperless charting and billing/receipts will be sent via email.

Protocols for CLIENTS to follow:

Please expect pre appointment screening as per public health guidelines:

Have you had close contact with anyone with acute respiratory Illness or travelled outside of Ontario in the past 14 days?

Have you had a confirmed case of COVID-19 or had close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19?

Do you have any of the following symptoms:

•Fever

•New onset of cough

•Worsening chronic cough

•Shortness of breath

•Difficulty breathing

•Sore throat •Difficulty swallowing

•Decrease or loss of sense of taste or smell

•Chills •Headaches

•Unexplained fatigue/malaise/muscle aches (myalgias)

•Nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain

•Pink eye (conjunctivitis)

•Runny nose/nasal congestion without other known cause

If you are 70 years of age or older and experiencing any of the following symptoms:

delirium, unexplained or increased number of falls, acute functional decline, or worsening of chronic conditions?

COVID-19 Screening Results If response to ALL of the screening questions is NO: COVID Screen Negative, you are fine to continue with booking for a treatment. If response to ANY of the screening questions is YES: COVID Screen Positive PLEASE CANCEL your appointment

Please expect to answer the questions on arrival of treatment as well.

It is mandatory that all clients wear a mask, some will be available to purchase if you forget.

It is requested that you arrive alone to your appointment and as close to your appointment time as possible (within 5 min), to allow for proper disinfection and social distancing and leave as soon as your session is complete. You will unfortunately have to wait in your car/outside until you get a text message from me. I will then come and unlock/open the door for you.

When entering the office: You must sanitize your hands upon entry of the clinic, directed to the washroom to wash your hands then straight to the treatment room.

We are required to maintain a log of everyone that enters the clinic space, so, there will be a form where I will add your name and phone number with your verbal consent that you are clear according to the pre-screening questions to enter the clinic to the best of your knowledge and in case we need to get a hold of you in the future with any information from the date of your visit.

I want to take this moment to thank you for your patience and cooperation as we all navigate this new normal. This has been a difficult time for many and I want to make sure that all clients, their families and mine feel safe. If you have any questions at all, please send me an email or call.
